Equine Program
Horses are a very big part of our program. There is something about a horse that brings out deep hidden hurts that a child has shared with no one. Perhaps it's the sense of accomplishment that comes from being able to control such a large animal when you have had so little control over what has occurred in your life. The skills learned in order to control a horse help to build confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. The loving bond that is created between the child and his/her horse helps to heal the broken bonds they've experienced. Our EAGALA Certified Mental Health Counselor and Equine Specialist are able to observe behaviors out at the stables and in the riding arena that have not been disclosed through traditional therapy.
Rescued Horses for Rescued Kids
Our rescued horses allow us to show our teens that love, compassion and committment can make a huge difference in the life of a horse, just like in the life of a teen.
Sponsor a Horse
It costs approximately $100 a month to feed each horse in our program. Will you consider helping with these costs? You can adopt a horse for as little as $25 a month with our "Bale & Bag Program". In turn we will send you a picture and history of the horse you have adopted and quarterly updates of his/her progress. Each horse in our program is matched up with one of our residents who is responsible for the feeding, grooming and general care of her horse.
