Things I Learned

Penned by a HYR Graduate

What I learned at HYR is a lot of things...
like telling the truth not only to not get into trouble but it is the right thing to do.
I learned how to do my hygiene and take care of myself.
I learned not to cheat on other people.
I learned how to be a better person.
I learned how to just be myself.
I learned that I need to do the right thing for the right cause even if you get into trouble.
You still do the right thing.
I learned how to respect myself and respect others.
I learned how to listen to what others are saying and then say my part.
I learned finally that some friends here are really not my friends.
I learned that when I tell people things they are going to tell others.
I also learned that God is bigger than everything.
I learned I am a leader and I can make a difference.
I also learned that I need to put others before myself.
I learned I need to have patience and faith.
I learned that what goes around comes around.
I learned that people like me for who I am and I don’t need to please anybody.
I learned that God could do anything he wanted to with me. He changed me.
I learned that with God all things are possible.
I learned the fruit of the spirit, how to trust in God, not completely but I’m getting there.
I learned how to stand up for myself.
I learned most of all about myself and how I am and how I will be in the future.
I am beautiful, nobody can tell me any different. - AD
